Over sixty thousand fans flocked in October to see the national Irish team defeat the new Zealand heralded all blacks squad in international rugby. The victory will go down I rugby as one o the greatest days in sports history as the unbeatable and unconquering New Zealand team took it on the chin and was shocked by the Irish national team and many Irish-Americans couldn't believe how bias and ignorant sports media was hardly covering this event while Chicago was basking in revelry for a world championship in the rounder's snore game of bases. I had the fortune of being a guest of the KIwi club to observe and write about this important contest and the amazing culture and sporting intensity was well on display with these two teams. the amount of respect for the fans and the game was also clear as there were no asshole kneeling for the national anthem and so forth like in the national Football league. On this Sunday afternoon in Soldier Field though baseball and football took a back eat y a sport that corporate America continues to fear and ignore unable to find a way to make huge profits from the sale f gear and so forth. The real Irish team (not phony Black dudes playing for Notre Dame football) lead by the superior coaching of Joe Schmidt led a second hald onslaught against the beleaguered Kiwis who felt the incredible crowd advantage of Irish folks supporting their rugby team living in a country where other sports and money institutions didn't hold it back like here in the states. Rugby is a growing sport in America with legions of fans already who are constantly ignored by corporations and mainstream media wishing to maintain the status quo and quelling competition to the big four American sports industrial leagues. I even called that shithead Dan Bernstein--host of a WSCR sports talk radio show in Chicago--to promote this event and ask him why he never talks rugby and the prick just cut the conversation short saying no one cares about rugby or soccer in America. Perhaps Bernstein was on brain cvacation last November 5 as seventy thousand fans saw Irelands first ever win over the nationa New Zealand team that is and always has been king of rugby.
