Noah Strycker appreciates birds and has written exclusively about the surprising lives and unique abilities of birds. Many birds and bird lovers will get a paroxysm form reading this book as Noel shares some of the secret talent sof these amazing creatures and how the evolution of birds and their abilities that they continue to fine tune in an ever changing human-dominated landscape.Image result for book thing with feathers Noel examines the homing talents of the pigeon and the amazing flocking high-speed movements of the starlings which humans find very startling in observing form near. Mr Styrker discusses the fears of the penguin which often involve sea Lions and Leopard Seals and he speculates of the nightmares of these frost-bitten arctic birds. He devotes a chapter to the importance of the pecking order as chickens are cooped up and exploited and eaten by man on farm for a millennium and how trying to make all chickens see red was a failed experiment by breeders and the chicken-shit selling profiteers.
Stryker informs the readers of the inate and organized structural surviving skills of various species of birds in this book and the nutcrackers memory niche and incredible ability to find their cache of seed is perhaps the best chapter in his book called "The Thing With Feathers" although I would of liked the title"The Thing With Wings" as a cooler and more appropriate title. Noah can't believe how the hell birds are able to recall the 500 spots they dig and store extra seed to get them through the winter and he basically thinks that nutcrackers are able to memorize landmarks when in search for their cache.Strycker also collects road kill and throws it out wondering if buzzards and vultures can smell rotting meat or they just have the eye of an eagle and an owl while buzzing around looking for a free meal. there was however no chapter devoted to caged parakeets and this was a disappointment  to a parakeet like myself.  Image result for buzzards
