Author Sy Montgomery recalls the death of Kali and shares her obsession and thrill of Octopus touch and encounter in a book called " The Soul Of The Octopus" and there are several octopus highlighted in this book. The color changing= abilities though didn't help kali once she was out of her environment as her Octopus solicitousness was her downfall and it is possible that her alleged spiritual connection with Sy Montgomery, as the author claims she has with these Octopus, is what drew kali to get out and find the object of her attention. MS Montgomery makes many claims of the unique personality traits of octopus and she actually believes there is traits of the various fish species that goes unnoticed and unappreciated by humans.
The shocking and sad death of kali makes this a saturnine read and the death of Sy's favorite octopus who escaped from a protected tank with four latches and heavy weights on all four corners. The escape abilities of Octopus and other unique and clever traits these bizarre beast mollusks share was the motivating goal of Sy as she ventured out at various aquariums and made endless dives into frigid waters to observe and love the Octopus. There are still a number of mysteries that scientists have not been able to decipher of this species as why an how they are able to change colors throughout the day. The author also talks up two other Octopus she befriended named Octavia and Karma and sy is so elated she made a social love connection with these usually solitary creatures that have little to do with their own species than others. Sy does write of the inquisitive nature of this creature and how she noticed one octopus on-line that made zombies out of Crabs and basically corralled them as one would ahhh corall a bunch of cows and Bulls for an easy meal of beef on a ranch. If you ever wanted to read about a quack getting off touching an writing about octopus then tis is a recommended read. Sy is not shy about her love more of te touch and feel of Octopus than that of human.
