Steve Dahl and Gary Meier recall Jimmy Piersall's seething criticism during disco demolition as baseball big mouth is dead

Sebastian Salvador
Steve dahl and partner Gary Meier came on the radio the other day to reflect on Chicago sports broadcaster legend Jimmy Piersall death the other day and they will always remember him as the old man really upset at the antics of their fans one July evening at a promotion at Comisky park on Chicago's South Side. Jimmy Piersall was doing the double header game against my beloved Tigers when in between games a special promotion and demolition was held for rock music fans. The desteuction of a hundred thousand disco records was about to occur and once Dahl and Meier blew them up the young music fans in Chicago ran amok on the green grasses of Comisky Park.
Jimmy Piersall was a bi-polar player and announcer and he couldn't hold the anger and disrespect for the sport he held in such high esteem. Jimmy Piersall went o the blast the Chicago Djs and the fans who carried this injustice to the cared diamond shaped grounds of White Sox park and the second game of the double header had to be canceled and Jimmy Piersall nearly had a stroke and died right there in 1979. Piersalls death is huge news and would be like Bob Uecker dieing for Milwaukee,be like Marv Albert dying in New York, be like Vin Skully dying in Los Angeles and be like Blake Hampton dying in Indianapolis.
Jimmy Piersall happened that night to also to have Chicago radio legend Milt Rosenberg on with him in the booth and both of these geriatric social critic son of a bitches made this unusual event into a platform to bash modern youth society and the disrespect young people had for the traditions of America such as baseball and eating poon pie instead of apple pie. Jimmy Piersall has brain issues and should of not been near a microphone ever in life nor a sport where a baseball bat figured so prominently in the game and as a potential weapon to be used on a teammate or opposing player.  I recall Jimmy not only sucked on air calling games being erratic with boring stories, but when the Sox finally dumped his ass a all sports radio station hired this worthless jerk and put him on for ten years talking about the Chicago Cubs every week and every summer. if you were a sports fan it was hard to avoid this silly scoundrel. Jimmy Piersall is dead at the age of 97.
