Half-red cardinal baffles many

Jake Glass
Nature news last week of a bizarre half-red-half gray cardinal was pretty amazing and show s that transgenersderism and gender bending exists in bird species. Apparently some cell mutation mistake occurred during cell division of a fertilized ovum. This cardinal doesn't know what gender it is and has been talked about through science internet sites throughout the week. In my youth I often tried breeding smaller and more docile cardinals for the pet trade but found it very difficult. As far as this mixed up bird, observers noticed its unusual traits especially compared to other cardinals and one of the main differences was its refusal to chirp and be around other cardinals. This is one bird that knows it is different from the others. the stunning rare example of this gynandromorphy and its very distinct appearence in the cardinal species has researchers scratching their heads and wondering WTF.  I just wish I could of captured one and named him bambi and tried to breed them as they clearly have mmutation adapatation abilities to change suddenly and uunexpectedly
