I heard the sad news that former bigtime pro wrestler Dusty Rhodes passed away the other day at the perfect sexy age of 69. Dusty was never one of my favorite wrestlers and many a time I hit the remote or fast forward a VHS wrestling tape when a match of this guy came on my screen. Dusty was about as real as a skyscraper in a desert oasis and guys like him gave rural areas a bad name with his interviews and swagger talking like an illiterate whack job. This dude sucked ass and I never could understand his popularity but one has to look where it mostly rested in the seventies and eighties. Dusty tried hard to portray the backwards idiototic attitude of many of the fans that would pay to watch wrestling in the South. Then again when one looks at it this guy really wasn't that popular. On the n et they call hi a WWE legend but his time in the organization was a flop as he was way fat and over the hill by 1991. Even in his heyday the dude was the anti-Hulk and didn't exactly get the cable channels or owners of dome stadiums beckoning for this lame geek. I reckon that outside of Hicksville Carolina that this guy was even really relevant in the seventies and eighties and instead of being called the American dream he should of been called the Carolina dream. this guy was drunk, dumb, fat, and ugly even when he was young and he would not even get a job in pro wrestling as a stage hand putting the rings together today in the wrestling business. The n ews of this guy dieing was amusing to a wrestling fan like myself because I thought old Dusty kicked the can some time ago and it is good that he had some more years of irrelevancy in the two decades he thankfully left the wrestling scene.
