The NBA championship matches the Oakland Warriors against the Cleveland Cavaliers and basketball fans will have an opportunity to witness up to four to seven games of these finals. Even the oat die hard of basketball fan will be hard press to view each and every game and this begs the question I have always wondered to why there has to be a series to determine the NBA champion. The league would have an event and extravaganza on par with the Super Bowl and Final Four if they had just one game determine the outcome of their championship. I don't think I can recall a game three of any NBA championship without referring to a book. How and why baseball ,hockey, and basketball established best of seven game series and the reasoning has really never been explained. What really is the point of playing a series. Is it just tradition, more ticket sales, of just reasoning that maybe a team might have one off day and should be given at least four opportunities to prove themselves?
What it does though is doom these sports to always be second fiddle to the Super Bowl as just having one America and a climatic match up to finish the season is much more reasonable that some series where many of the games appear on weeknights. Lebron James and Stephan Curry deserve to have the same exposure of a singular event to determine the champion instead of some dredged out series where most of the action nor games will ever be memorable in the long run. People will never really remember a crucial action or game and which are it was unless is was a America seven series ending moment. Perhaps it is the more numerous opportunities for selling tickets and commercial time for a best of seven series that will always prevail but the league is jut being stupid in not having a final that could of rivaled the Super Bowl just so they can highlight a series longer with five or six more games to offer a mostly disinterested public.the NBA should just get with it and cut this NBA finals from a best of seven to a best of one and get it over with and decide it already.
