The return of the Cougar a blessing to Indians

Cougar Face

News of a possible return to of the Cougar in the Chicago and other urban regions of the Midwest brings peace of mind to me and countless other Indians. The Cougar is a symbol of our people and if this creature of the spirits can proliferate and return to places it was hunted down it is a great return. A recent picture from infrared cameras showed off an unusually huge tree mammal in the thick forest preserves of the Chicago suburbs. It wasn't too long ago that Chicago police slaughtered a cougar in the heart of the city. A cougar who was tracked from coming from the wilds of Dakota country. The country of my people and countless other Red men who praised the might and stealth of this incredible cat. A return to the Midwest and eventual Eastern shorelines would be a wonderful nature story of this century. Of course, I doubt many folks of pale skin would be welcoming it to their huge private yards and the threat exposed to their exotic breed of dog. Sometimes you can't battle the forces of nature and animal conservationists need to see to it that the return of the Cougar in mans land is not a repeat of the slaughter of this mighty North American big cat. I pray to the skys and the rivers that this creature is left alone and left to prey on the rabbits, coyotes, and dogs..prairie dogs.
