Fraternities have had a rough year with numerous headlines on their racism ,hazing , boozing ,cheating, and many allegations of rape in their houses far from the eyes of those over the age of 24 years of age. Women have been getting drunk and raped for decades through this system and the heat added to the old-boy system of fraternities reached an epic level his year and it is about time. More needs to be done of eradicating tis vestige of sexism and elitism from the environments of higher education as soon as possible. Regardless of the false story of the Rolling Stone cover story many women have been sexually assaulted and pressured within big fraternity parties as the feeling of entitlement and abusive practices on the weaker sex is something members of these secret societies that have learned passed down from their grandfathers and fathers. The University of Virginia made the right step banning fraternities although they only made the ban temporary. If Universities really dealt with these scum houses in a pragmatic way the fraternity and sorority vestige would of long been banned from the national collegiate scene and would never had been the outlet of the social scene that most members join.
Brown University and another one hundred universities are under investigation for their mishandling of allegations of sexual misconduct at these institutions of learning that are instead just teaching nothing but how to get away with abuse. the fraternity system would not be able to thrive if it didn't encourage binge drinking to its mostly sorry white saps who can only get friends and camaraderie from shoving shots down each others throats among other things. The other fact is joining fraternities opens up doors of favoritism to the corporate world through alumni networks organized through these groups. You see through the business world where equality of employment and treatment in hiring has long gone out the door with their corrupt behaviorism and practices the price of fraternities is paid back. Just this fact alone should be reason enough for the fraternity system to be disabled from universities yet alone their underage drinking promotion and rape scandals.
