It is October and the time of year I make my annual call to the Les Grobstein radio overnight show in the Chicago area. Every year I make a quick mention of the absurdity of NFL players wearing pink and how utterly ridiculous it is to have these players wear pink in some devotion or participation in breast cancer awareness an research. most of these charities for breast cancer goes into the bureaucratic nature and promotion and public relations of these charities and few actually go into the fucking research. Les Grobstein is a sports addicted nimrod able to recall events in sports from 1975 and sports talk radio is pretty uch a tool to make the public into a fool for corporate abuses and power rule. Les has no problem watching NFL games all fucking October with grown men in this macho hard-hitting sport wearing wet pink towels as some ridiculous pandering to this cancer research industrial complex which as I said most charities go into awareness and promotion of this cause instead into actual research dollars and effective battle. the NFl looks so dumb with this color change on their field and product and Mintpress.com does a good story talking more in length about this on http://www.mintpressnews.com/pinkwashing-for-a-cure-pink-ribbons-appear-on-police-handcuffs-nfl-helmets-and-fracking-drill-bits/210368/ as the article points out one of the leading breast cancer charities and supporters of the breast cancer awareness campaign is Susan G. Komen, a foundation which has come under fire online and in the media for the high pay of its former CEO, and the small percentage of its funds that are diverted toward cancer research. too see great NFL franchises and trademarks like the Pittsburg Steelers and Green Bay Packers wear pink when they should be wearing their trademark yellow is fucking shameful and stupid. Grobstein is an idiot and does whatever his bosses tell him and doesn't want to discuss this shit or why the NFL wearing pink and supposedly selling all these dirty rags actually needs to be necessary for a breast cancer campaign when television announcements or images should be enough NFL recognition of breast cancer. The NFL actually pays for screenings for women over forty with this campaign basically paying doctors for a procedure that does nothing to prevent cancer nor detect it early enough. The most substantive mammography research, a study that followed 100,000 women for 25 years, concluded that annual screening does not result in a reduction in breast cancer specific mortality for women over 40 in any way that goes beyond physical examination. so the NFL pink campaign is a fucking fare and a pink sick joke.
