You know I was bartending the other day and I was thinking about another similarly named bar in Champaign/Urbana. This student bar I spent several days loaded and getting drunk in the past and from news I hear this bar has really fallen down. The Illini Inn in Champaign is a small bar that has survived the tests of time and redevelopment of campus town and areas. many college towns throughout the country have lost small bars for their students to relax and dine.
The illini Inn is no Itasca Inn where I work as the owner has not developed or remodeled for a long time. I hear the bathrooms are filthy and so much more shit about this place I really wonder how bars ike this can do this to their steady patrons through the years. The people studying hard and who live withen walking distance of this dive bar deserve better and because a place is small, dirty and a dive doesn't mean it has to remain a dump for so long. the owner and my great boss at the Itasca Inn would never allow bathrooms to get into shambles an d where people would gossip and complain of it on google mas and yelp reviews. I went here recently on a trip back home and was appalled by the conditions of this bar and especially the bathrooms. A port-a-potty is more clean and update than the bathrooms of this place man. Also this place still has an Indian logo on it long after Chief illiniwek was taken away from the University of Illinois and deemed offensive caricature to the first Americans of this land. The Illini Indians would be disgraced to see a place like this named after the tribe.
