Main Event Bar ponders its future as bars take a corporate onslaught throughout the country

Baxter Lomax
There is a lone bar way out in the Kenosha area that doesn't get too many patrons these days and the poor bar ponders how much longer it has before a corporate conversion occurs for its location. Panera Bread and Corner Bakery wish to bring more corner sameness and look and vibe for the Kenosha area. Main Event bar has not been a main event for drinking patrons in Kenosha for a long time and often driving by this place I cannot really tell if the business is still in existence or not. his may be a shadow business whose owners just sit on it and open up to their few friends and regulars when they feel like it. Kenosha and Racine, Wisconsin have many of these ghost bars that are open some nights closed many others during the week and
This bar is an odd fixture on the Kenosha landscape and the appropriation of space admirable int he era of suburban sprawl and clutter that lines all of the streets and boulevards of America. the Main vent bar wants to remain and the building and owners are always going to battle the corporate forces that want to put a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts on this corner. our very own writer Jason Percy is furious whenever his delivery job takes him to this area and he can't find a reliable Dunkin Donuts readily available all around that neo-liberal entitled not to work for other Indian immigrants franchises keep bringing about in the corrupt  Chicago region. the main Event bar is a classic place and needs to be thanked for surviving thus far the attacks of globalization and the corporate onslaught tof street domination wishing to fill the streets with foreign taco stands, pay-day loans ,Dunkin Donut, and goodwill thrift and dollar stores all over the landscape at the expense especially of the family bar and tavern.
