Joe Moreno is an alderman in a key Chicago neighborhood and he is being sued by a business owner of a building wishing to lease his building out to national corporate chains Subway and Dunkin Donuts among others. I don't know what there may want to come but others like Panda Express and Jimmy Johns could follow. Building owner Brian Strauss worked hard to get the popular and rowdy Double Door shut down recently after many years of entertaining young people in the popular Wicker park neighborhood and with Double Door's demise thanks to assholes like Mr Strauss so goes down Milwaukee Avenues great urban unique look. the fact that Brian is suing alderman Moreno and not the other way around with the city suing this building owner for trying to make this stretch look like suburbia is confusing to me and should be the bases of lawsuit. A major street confrontation took part last year which some video taped Alderman Moreno basically telling him there will not be any lame Dunkin Donuts into the area which is a shame as this is all I eat being an ignorant slob.
Strauss is claiming Moreno used threats that if he did not allow Double Door's owners back into a lease for the space he would zone the shit out of this guy and his building and the store fronts would remain empty for man many many moons to come. the fact is Alderman Moreno wishes to see this being a vibrant magnet of an entertainment area and should express specifically to this piece of shit that national chains and lame auto parts businesses will not be tolerated into the area as the corptocracy has done with much of suburbia. alderman Moreno can't peed progress and if Dunkin Donuts wishes to come onto Milwaukee Avenue and Mr Strauss wants to rent instead of a classic cool rock club then it is his right as an owner to make this dream of mind come true. Chicago and trendy neighborhoods have been cool for too long and need a more similar look to the vastness strip mall America in order for urban residents to see what is happening to their country.
