Professor Nate Hagens teaches at the University of Minnesota and is one of the original prophets of doom, which was this amazing History channel program where a bunch of distinguished individuals basically said everything is crumbling down form energy to finance. I even checked his Monkey Trap blog site and it has the first post after a two year absence as Mr Hagens likely was fighting a heavy poker addiction and barely made it on time to teach his Humanity 1010 class Human predicament in age of scarcity.
Nate Hagens finally appeared in public outside this classroom as he spoke at something called Kansas Wesleyan University and Hagens doubted mankind can keep doubling of resources needed to maintain mankind in the future at the present population rate. Nate was once a huge economic and energy annalist YouTube rockstar sensation before he discovered the love and need for poker at a casino nearby. He also said it was absurb for those space elites like Elon Musk to even conceive that we humans can't set up an ecosystem in deep space and these ideas are so unrealistic it is disturbing that wealthy plutocrats would even considering diverting funds on Earth for such crap.
The former editor of Oildrum.com had one of the best websites for analyzing the markets of black gold and he would often get all of these speaking gigs right at about the time of the history channel's prophet of doom series making the comparison of the Beverly Hillbillies type oil being all over and instant riches of Jeb making discoveries by shooting at rabbits as possible as cats hunting flying penguins. It was great to see Nate get out and speak in public and get over his anxiety of public appearances. Whether he draws back into the corners of a casino and disappears now for many months in poker play is not known
