Uncle Fester from the famed sixties television program called the Addams family settled some time ago in Milwaukee and established a dive bar in the West Allies area just West of Milwaukee. The Uncle often stops and hangs with the regulars at this dive bar where people can get a Budweiser and Miller instead of Great lakes or Lakefront beers. I was surprised on a recent visit to see a bar under this name thinking of some copyright issues with name and imagery, but low and behold the old geriatric actor named Jackie Coogan runs and operates this bar located somewhere in the middle of Milwaukee; Ahh actually it is in West Allies but since there are no actual division or borders these towns are in and all the same. I recognized him right away and told him that he an Lurch scared the shit out of me as a kid and I didn't actually start watching the original Adams Family until the teen years and enjoyed the program immensely .
Uncle Fester is old school and talks of his two years as a cast member of this beloved sixties program that featured him as the oddball relative with always something snappy to say and often acted like he had a live snail up his ars. This bar is a shitty dirty dive rarely cleaned like the bar I attend which is the Itasca Inn off Irving Park Road in Itasca Illinois. I couldn't help to notice that Jackie Coogan's bar looked alot like the set of the home on the Addamns Family.
Uncle Festers is a bar one can catch a hard rocking bar kick back and jam in front of ten people such as the increidble Uncle Festers metal band than ironically goes by the same name as the bar and the character played by Jackie Coogan. Coogan now runs this simple dive bar one of 2300 in greater Milwaukee area and he is there most nights whether playing pool or attending to the back and trying to catch cockroaches or something in the back. Feel free sometime to stop here and ask for Uncle Fester the owner.
