The Chicago Cubs are not your grandfathers Cubs and are able to take advantage of bankrolling give away and the ineptness of the Pittsburgh baseball organization to put together a string of ninety win seasons. However despite playing 50 games against the Reds and Pirates which usually means wins the 2019 Chicago Cubs are desperately trying to reach the playoffs and get a meager Wild Card game. The fact that baseball allows so many teams is to ensure loyalists of winning big market teams that their
fans will always have September races and opportunities to see their teams in a playoff race as like 5 or 6 teams are now allowed into the playoffs and for Chicago icons Bill Corgan, Bill Murray and Billy Epstein there is always going to be a chance for more October play.
There are economic forces that demand the Chicago Cubs be great or very good and this is something the Wrigley ownership or the Tribune company was not able to provide back in the day and constant winning is basically now bought and purchased for payback for the amount of money the Chicago area corporatism put forth into the pockets of rotten Tom Ricketts and his family. The reds handed the Cubs a two out of three loss in Wrigley Field no less shocking and appalling the Cub fans who did not expect Cub faithful who spent money on the tickets and expected the Cincinnati Reds to roll over and play dead much like the Pittsburgh Pirates did before them and usually do for the Cubbies inflating their win total and ensuring that the Cubs have another 90 win season to boost the ego of the North Shore Cub fans and people like the Bills form their North Brook and Deerfield bases.
Even a Billy Corgan, Murray, and Epstein knows this with their fake fanfare and emotional showing is a fucking joke. Baseball is not very real and big market teams dominate and win more often than not for a very sound economic reason and basis that the sport desperately needs for television revenue. In a reality based baseball world and not one now based on revenue the Chicago Cubs would be perpetual losers and in last place but baseball is no longer legit and is filled with fake fans and celebrities like the three Bills
