A St Louis taxi driver and blogger again had some tough critiques on new taxi services of Uber and Lyft as being some neo liberal service to undermine the wages of taxi drivers such as himself from ring able to send his kids through college. Umar Lee went on to describe these hipster services as cutting into the working peoples livelihood and describing them as something akin to Wal Mart. As a life long taxi writer and urban transportation expert this is complete hogwash and what it is these young urbanised want to seek safe when getting a ride home after a night of drinking. The fact that most taxi drivers are from far away places of a different culture is another reason and people have a right for alternatives that will give a rider that looks much like them. Who really wants a ride in a taxi and have to worry about acting or saying something to a driver that might offend his religion and give him a right to murder you. There is a reason the average driver is named Muhammad and you see no one named Tony or Alex Regar able to drive a taxi.

I use Lyft and other rider share programs because I know the drivers will be much more like myself instead of some far away place with an odd name. Umar Lee in St Louis talks a out this hipster attitude and how restraints set up by urban pioneer hipsters usually have a waitstaff that is all white. Well the same this can be said about the preponderance of taxi drivers looking like Umar Lee and all being foreigner and discriminated for years against native born Caucasian employees or folks that tried to get into the business. Taxi companies hired these foreigners from Pakistan and other Stan's to basically undercut the native born drivers. Now that White Americans are coming up with new alternative ride programs and companies these Arabs have a problem with it.
