John Kerry flew to Nigeria as the Islamic group in Northern Nigeria continues to fight and carve out a state within this once imperialist country drawn up by British colonials. Boko Harums successes have been stunning and have world Western leaders like John Kerry very worried and aski got more money to prevent the tide. This tide however cannot be undone as Muslims in the North have wanted a separate state for years. The Northwestern city of Maidiguri is under attack by Islamic militants and more and more territory is being captured by these Islamic freedom fighters as this group attempts to build an Islamic State in West Africa whose successes rival those in Iraq.
Of course John Kerry wants none of this and flew to Lagos to show support and decry violence at the upcoming elections in Nigeria but when a huge section of a country wants nothing to do with the central government Kerry needs to respect that and realize why there has been. Five year insurgency in this country. Boom Harams popularity and ability to carve out an area in the North is due to this fact and this is something you will never hear statement like John Kerry discuss and men like him will throw out terrorist terms to these fighters. The town of Baga has been the scene of fighting for several years and government forces were finally expelled from the area as Boko Harums strength increased in the Northeast as their fight for independent statehood is often ignored by the press. There are just millions of people who realize they got shafted in power sharing when the British drew up borders to give loyal groups huge chunks of territory and the fighting we see now in Africa and the Middle East is a direct consequence of this action.
