Einstein Bagels is a great bagel chain and occupy much needed retail space in the Chicago land area and does serve a purpose giving competition and alternatives for breakfast eating. Despite being a national chain I like these paces and endless to say was very chagrined when I heard that eleven stores in Chicago and the urns would close as of March. Eight of the stores are in the city with three in the burbs and company officials.
Said the reasons were that these stores were under performing. Whatever that means I do to low but again this brings my mind to why cool places like these seem to go under and get scrutinized for performances while the land is littered with Dunkin Donuts everywhere. I have yet in my life to see their stores shut down or ever read in business publications and the newsprint these stores close down their under performing locations. I hardly doubt that all of these Dunkin Do its perform more better than a chain like Einstein Bagels whose quality of baked goods are far better than the junk that Dunkin Donuts ships on truck from a centralized warehouse. The love affair native New Englenders have for this chain is bizarre and this chain has aggressively expanded since it was ought by influential investor groups that feel there are no limits for growth and expanding Americas coffee and obesity rates
. The corporate power right now for duke donuts and its franchises is at an all time high but with anything there is always a tipping point where it shall fall as people come to see its coffee as bad and its overpriced doughnuts as unhealthy and not really fresh nor tasty. Dunkin expands because there are fewer alternatives and competition for a fast paced society that doesn't really observe what foods they are consuming. Einsteins is way more upscale and have better looking people not from India and named Patel working at their stores as well.
