Ned Baily
The privatization of space travel and the space industry will go no where. companies like SpaceX and Virgin galactic will raise capital and most of this money will go into research and pockets of science researchers and space experts who will never admit that it is to dam expensive and improbable ever to have a feasible space explorative industry. In an interview with the Verge, Neil De Grasse Tyson himself admitted the futility of far space exploration in the stars as it will never remain profit to get the necessary growth. Tyson said space travel is insanely expensive and dangerous and those private owners of companies are obviously suffering from illusions of grandeur to expect a payoff from their investments. Spacex is not going to lead private spaceflight and increase humanity into the space frontier. Neil rightfully pointed out there is not any return on investment and the idea of bringing in an asteroid to mine is ludicrous. The cost just to acquire the impossible technology of realtering a asteroid in orbit nd then trying to get stuff back and forth would far outweigh any scope of this reality. Likewise with a manned mission to mars which would be a one way ticket for the unlucky fools who would not likely last long so many moons away. SpaceX will just be a ferry to get eopole into orbit around Earth and they will be happy just tog et this for a long time. Space exploration needs to be thought of in stages and humanity may need a few thousand years of orbit rocket running to real get a better handle on space travel but how we will find the resources and money to get this earth-orbit highway system going and sustaining is really out of this world and not likely to be anything more than a near space version of a cruse line or the many mile high spaceXXX club.
