Robert Farley is a professor at Kentucky that runs the bloggingheads tv channel called foreign entanglements. Now I am sure life is pretty boring in Kentucky even for a professor so being interested in things outside of Kentucky must be key to get through a semester. So he runs a channel and had a lovely Asian colleague from the university of Kentucky. Lien-hang Nguyen looks like a professor I would like to have one time if I was a student and Kentucky teenager at this university. I would highly recommend her even if you have no interest in the Vietnam era. Her new book looks at the communist power struggle between Soviet Union and China as early as 1968 as it was evident the United States dream of a Southern puppet wouldn't materialize.
So I enjoyed this interview which lasts a full forty minutes and noticed Mr Farly fidgety and nervous in the interview. he is drinking coffee constantly and fidgeting and sucking his pencil which I found very distracting throughout the interview. He interviewed her on skype even though they were in the same building from their respective offices. Throughout the interview I could see only one hand he was using for these nervous gestures and I was just wondering where and what his other hand was at through this interview. Anyway this book looks interesting and I am sure this author is an up and coming star and writer of Asian affairs and history. look forward to this book.
