Morris Berman rips the country America has become

"Dark Ages America"  is a book written by Morris Berman. I don't know much about Morris but he obviously gets it in this book about the cultural and ethic degradation of the United States. this book was written before the hope and election of Barack Obama and Bermon's mood is pretty dark recounting the terrible Bush Jr administration.
He gives a good history of Pax Americana and our foreign policy evil moves such as in Chile in the seventies to Iraq modern day. he talks about are war on Muslims over the years and the real meaning of 9/11 and how Americans are so ignorant of the events that helped lead to the hatred and explosion of the twin towers and what the towers come to represent. As he said they didn't attack America's cultural heritage like the Brooklyn bridge of statue of Liberty. They attacked the symbols of what America has become over the years as an exporter of a free-market capitalist system that enslaves much of the world to extreme poverty. This Berman seems like a pretty cool dude and this book was filled with some great material and knowledge of the state of the union.  Morris berman is a social critic like we are at the left Shark. This is now required reading around the office. Berman states how the military's morality has dramatically declined and the torture used at Abu Ghraid became possible because of the lowering of the values and prestige we once held. Morris also spends a chapter talking about the roads less traveleed and gives a shout out and mention to james Howard Kuntsler. He says it shouldn't be a surprise that one of the first moves in Iraq was the destruction of their culture as we have done in our own country with complete disgusing road scenes and box stores on our landscape. he goes on to blast the car culture for the complete degrading of our streets and cities and lay blame to our stupid obsessions of cheap oil and constant driving for all of these wars we start. James Howard Kuntsler would love this book and his numerous mentions from this good author.
