Chicago cabbies drove all around downtown the other day honking their horns and noses refuse g tick up any fares in a preposterous protest against competition. They refused to pick up people on this cold February morning and cabbies claimed ride sharing application companies Ike Uber were unfairly tiring into their pockets. They want even stricter regulation on these ride sharing programs that they say they face in setting up operations and importing foreign nationals for cheap labor and ability to take over the industry. What this is about is that foreign interests that have taken over the cabbie business all over this country don't want American companies with American drivers to get into the street offering alternatives.
What really has these cabbies in an uproar is the licensing of transportation network provider operations Uber and other companies were given by the city of Chicago after the company agreed to n crease security precautions for its riders. The audacity of Chicago's taxi drivers to ignore cold clients who needed rides will only make more riders seek these companies who will provide to be more reliable and reputable in the long run when folks compare the service provided by both. Perhaps if most f the cabbies would be such a less fractious group if independent contractors and learn English and join unions more then their voice would of been heard and more powerful. The taxi industry thou is one that shuns unionization and seek to squash any other methods of improving their rigged industry.
